Advice on VISA IPO?

IPO
Fay asks:

I missed the boat on big IPO’s like Amazon, Yahoo, Google and the likes. VISA is geared to go public sometime next year.
MC started at 40.30 and is now 215.46. Would it be good advise to put some money into it, long term. Since I am new to this - on line trading, is it as good as having a broker.
Thanks in advance for all advice.

It is a great idea to get in on the IPO, especially for the long term prospects. I do think there is going to be a good deal of hype that might drive up the price too soon at the start.

But if you are long term, you have nothing to worry about. VISA is considered a much better prospect than MA was, and look at MA’s run (so it is something that many investors are considering). Since you are new, try to find out how you can go about getting in the IPO, since many brokers are wary of allowing newer investors to invest a great deal of money out of nowhere.

You may not be able to get the IPO without a broker, but you can buy it when it opens in the markets. Remember, brokers work for their companies, not for you. Their job is to get as much out of you as possible. If you need advice, use the internet - reliable sources only - or hire an independant Investment Advisor that works for you.

How can anyone make a judgement about the Visa IPO when nobody seems to know the price range? If it’s cheap, it’s a good investment; in this market, not all IPOs perform well upon listing. If it’s not cheap, avoid it. D
