Buying VISA IPO-use Scottrade or Broker @Wachovia?

Archie asks:
The Visa IPO hits the week of 3/17 & I want in. My buddy who works for AG Edwards/Wachovia is trying to get me to go through his firm for the purchase. He claims they will be able to execute the order before me & at a lower price than if I use my Scottrade online account. Is he just speculating or is it common for a large brokerage to get dibs way earlier in the IPO(so it would be worth it) than the online trader.

Do US non-residents qualify for the IPO?
Scottrade does broker-assisted IPO’s as well. Compare prices.
Who charges less for fees? there ya go.

Wachovia is more expensive than scottrade. This is going to be such a large IPO that the price of the stock will not shoot up rapidly. So you won’t need to be the first person to get shares of the stock in order to get a deal.
