While it can be difficult for individual investors to buy IPO shares, more and more firms, including several online brokers, offer IPOs. Because these firms often have a small allotment of shares to sell to the public, your ability to buy these shares – especially “hot” IPOs – may be limited no matter which firm you do business with

It depends on the rule of your brokerage company

With Fidelity Investments, for example, you can request for participation in IPO if you have $500,000 in your account, though OpenIPOs and Secondary offerings have lower requirement of $100,000 in your account

IPO are not by invitation only, but you do need to contact your broker to see if he can get you in at the IPO price. You may not have to have specified amount in your brokerage account, because some brokers may be able to lump your IPO purchase in with other investors when they buy the stock in a block. It really depends on the broker, some may not mind with a small amount some may not bother.

Open a brokerage account with the underwriters with at least $1,000,000.00 USD and very nicely ask them for a few shares.
