How should I go about asking a recruiter for salary on a potential position?

I was told by the recruiter that I definitely will be offered the job, but since the company is going through with a IPO, the official offer will not be made for 3-4 weeks. I would like to get more information on the salary of the job through the recruiter but I am not sure how to ask? Does any one have any thoughts? I want to have a better ideal what the salary that will be offer incase another position comes up.

The recruiter should be your ally in this since he will be getting a nice commission when you get hired. Tell him that you know that he can’t give you the actual salary, but could he give you an idea of what the range will likely be. Good luck getting the job!
Do a research on what other companies pay for such positions.
Go to the gov. occupational handbook web site, they got national averages.
Don’t ask this company about salary yet. That is something you can always negotiate. If they want to hire you, it’s most likely because you are a good fit and they think you will work out for them.
They know that they have to pay you what is common for the job.
Also, most times employers will offer you a lower salary then give you a raise depending on performance.
Keep applying for other jobs though, it’s always good to have other options open.
