Lavonne asks:

Hi,

I’m new to this world of investing. Sometime back, I’ve been alloted few shares through an IPO allotment. I use ICICI Direct[.]com. How can i find out on which exchange[BSE or NSE], i’ve been alloted shares, since the script is listed on both exchanges.

Kindly help.

When you are issued shares of stock, you are investing in the company that issued it. The various exchanges are simply places where the stock can be bought or sold. Think of it as buying an ipod. Whether you get it from Best Buy or Circuit City, it is still an ipod made by Apple. Same thing with stocks. You bought the product, and it can be sold through any exchange that handles the stock.
