What books are best recommended, on a freshman basis, for a) accounting, b) economics and c) small bus. / IPO’

I am now part of a business venture and I need to know on a freshman basis regarding econ, accounting and IPO’s and DPO’s. I’m fairly intelligent and have pretty good common sense. I just need to get to speed on the above-mentioned subjects. I would like one book for each subject and when I go to amazon.com there are soooo many books that I just don’ know which is the best or the best valuel. Thanks for all your help.
